Our topic this half term is: Fairtrade.
As part of our topic we will be looking at countries all over the world where Fairtrade products come from. We will be looking at where chocolate is grown and why some countries are more suited for this than others. We will be reading the story of Grendel: A Cautionary Tale about Chocolate. In Science we will be looking more closely at how plants grow and what they need in order to stay healthy.
This week we are learning about:
English: using a range of features in our writing when describing our own chocolate lands! We will be using conjunctions, expanded noun phrases and a range of openers.
Maths: We are learning to add two numbers where crossing 10 is required (17 + 5=). We will be learning this by using a range of practical equipment such as dienes.
Topic - Geography: We are learning about the Northern and Southern hemispheres and what the weather is like in countries situated near the equator. We have also learnt about the points on a compass and the directions of North, East, South and West.
