Welcome to 5L
Week Beginning 1st April 2019
I will be your teacher; Mr Lafafian.
PE kits will need to be brought in on a Tuesday and if you were originally in 4P, you will need to bring in your swimming kits in on a Thursday.
This week's homework
The children will be set a maths task linked to their learning this week. We will also set a spelling, grammar and or reading comprehension activity for them to work on. There will also be activities on Mathletics for the children to work on as well as the expectation being that the children read one book from Bug Club weekly.
This week's learning:
This week we will continue reading our class text 'The London Eye Mystery', producing a newspaper report from the information we have read.
The expectation is that the children read every evening to an adult. Said adult then makes a comment in their reading record based on the shared reading focus, which this week is making predictions. If an adult does not read with the child, the child must read independently and comment in their reading record. Reading records must be brought to school on a daily basis.
Our spelling rule this week is 'words with the ee sound spelt ei'.
Our shared reading focus is 'synthesising'.
This week in maths we will be:
looking at coordinates and completing our end of half term assessments on Abacus.
If your child does not know their times tables, please practice these at home with them.
It is imperative that all children learn these as without this knowledge they cannot access the Year 5 Curriculum.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
Have a wonderful week,
Mr Lafafian and Mrs Storer
