Our Learning Challenge for this half term will be:
All about chocolate!
Highlights Last Week:
English: We learned about subordinating conjunctions and how to use them in our writing. We also learned about contractions and how we can form these by squeezing two words together and using an apostrophe to show the missing letters in these kinds of words. We completed a comprehension, answering questions about our text.
Maths: We returned to learning about related facts. We thought about the addition and subtraction number sentences that we could write from a given fact using our understanding of inverse operations. We also did this for multiplication and division, writing related facts from a known fact.
Topic: We continued to look at materials and considered the question, ‘What material should Grendel use to make a boat?’ In art, we continued to use charcoal and learn about drawing in the style of L.S Lowry. We also continued to learn about printing.
English: This week we will be rehearsing and learning the story thoroughly in preparation for writing our own version. We will first think about developing our own characters. We will then plan and write our own stories and then once we have written the story we will spend some time editing and making improvements to them.
Maths: This week we will be returning to time. We will recap telling the time to the nearest 5 minutes. We will also start to look at data representation and interpreting data from various charts.
Topic: This week we will look again at the life of John Cadbury and the significant events in his life. We will write an information text based on John Cadbury.
Please continue to support your child with learning to tell the time from an analogue clock e.g. quarter past…
