Our Learning Challenge for this half term will be:
All about chocolate!
Highlights Last Week:
English: We continued our work on our new text ‘Grendel A Cautionary Tale about Chocolate’. We continued to work on writing settings descriptions and learned about writing letters. We wrote our own advice letters to the main character, Grendel.
Maths: We continued to learn about multiplication and division. We looked at different ways of solving multiplication number sentences including repeated addition, counting along a number line in steps and drawing arrays. We also solved problems involving multiplication and division.
Topic: We continued to learn about the work of L.S Lowry. We learned about drawing with charcoal in the style of Lowry and also began to learn about printing.
English: This week we will be rehearsing and learning the story thoroughly. We will also complete some story mapping in preparation for writing the story in our own words. Once we have written the story we will spend some time editing and making improvements to our stories.
Maths: This week we will be returning to learning about related facts. We will think about the addition and subtraction number sentences that we can write from a given fact using our understanding of inverse operations. We will also do this for multiplication and division, writing related facts from a known fact.
Topic: This week we will continue to look at materials and will consider the question, ‘What material should Grendel use to make a boat?’ In art, we will continue to use charcoal and learn about drawing in the style of L.S Lowry. We will also continue to learn about printing.
Please continue to support your child with learning to tell the time from an analogue clock e.g. quarter past…
