Week beginning 11.06.18
Our Learning Challenge:
Why would you like to live by the seaside?
Subsidiary Learning Questions:
Where are our seaside towns located?
Which animals live at the seaside?
What are the different seaside habitats?
Highlights Last Week:
English: We introduced the new class text: The Storm Whale. The focus was on visualising the setting and empathising with the main characters. We also wrote a diary entry in the role of the main character Noi.
Maths: We practiced arithmetic and then we continued to work on telling the time to five minute intervals and converting analogue times into digital.
Topic: We introduced our new learning challenge 'Why would you like to live by the seaside?' We created a collage of a seaside landscape using a variety of different materials. We also looked at where our seaside towns are located within the British Isles.
English: We will be continuing our work on The Storm Whale. This week we will be getting to know characters in more detail as well as writing poetry about the stormy sea.
Maths: Our main focus this week will be on fractions (1/2, 1/4, 1/3, 3/4 and 2/3). We will be finding fractions of shapes and fractions of numbers.
Topic: We will be looking at the different habitats found at the seaside and the animals that inhabit them. We will be finding out how animals have adapted to live in their different habitats.
Maths games focusing on the skills learned during class and bug club books have been added to children's bug club accounts. Please log in to bug club to select these. The children can also practise their maths skills by logging into mathletics:
Things to remember:
1. You should read with your child every night and write a comment about their reading in their reading records. Reading records should be returned every day.
2. Homework books will be given out on a Friday and should be returned on a Wednesday.

Keep up the great work!
